About The ProjectWE ARE . . . A dropout prevention intervention program for minority young boys "at-risk" of dropping out of school and/or choosing a life of crime. The program serves 82 schools, which includes 16 elementary, 34 middle and 32 senior high Miami-Dade County Public Schools. The majority of students enter the program in middle school and continue activities throughout their high school and post-secondary education years. more MissionFounded by then Miami-Dade County School Board Member, Dr. Frederica S. Wilson, now member of the Florida Senate District-33, the 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project was initiated by the Miami-Dade County School Board in March 1993, due to the realization that there is an ongoing crisis in the lives of many young males.
